LPLVNV Funding ripoff credit collection poor company

Ok, i have recently graduated from college.in terms of my credit, I had made some mistake early and relied on the wrong people to take care of them while I was in college. I have been making quiet a dent in the majority of my credit accounts past due, Resurgent capital was on my next to do list. I have done some research and found that it's better to pay a debt than to settle. So I had decided that i was pay the debt simply because I was able and I didn't want to make my credit score any lower. The first contact with them was odd, they asked if i wanted to settled, and stated that it wouldnt hurt my score. This is National Enterprise systems a third party collection company hired by Resurgent. I eventually told them that i didnt want to settle and that I would make payments at the end of each month. I owed around $2,500 at the time.in two month's i was able to take it down to $958. Generally, I was feeling optimistic about headway. But now it was getting weird. One day I reported a discripency on experian, they had not updated my balance. A few days later the LVNV funding balance dropped to $559.00 I was curious as to why it dropped so I called NES first, and they told me that sometimes they take interest and what not away to help people out. Hmmm, odd, I told to myself. My would they want to help me out. So i asked them if they settled my account, they stated they have not settled and that is what is due. So i was excited. But uneasy. So I called LVNV funding a.K. A resurgent capital services LP and asked them the same questions. They responded that the account was not settled and that if i paid the amount they would put paid in full on my account. So again I asked if it was going to be put as settled on my account. They assured me that it would be paid in full, and that this amount does not constitute a settlement. Relieved I payed the amount in full then. A month later I reviewed their statements and disputed it because they mentioned that my account was a goverment account which was paid when it wasn't. After the dispute they changed their statement to say legally paid in full for less than the full balance. Now I am pissed. And need help.
