I am not sure which address to sue for this Wells Fargo rip off.
Second Mortgage originated with Norwest, take over by Wells Fargo. Lost job Nov. 1999 in CA. Norwest company was out of Iowa at that time. Contacted a real estae agent and a quick sale was arranged for the sale of my home and approved by Chase and Norwest/Wells Fargo. Luck with us, we saved the records, including a letter form Norwest/Wells Fargo agreeing to less to settle the debt under the quick sale. Then the house was sold and closed on May 24.
Feb, 15. We now live in New Mexico, have an unlisted number and lost all we owned due to illness. We get a call from a very nasty colection agency in Rancho Cucamongo, Ca by the name of Creative Recover Concepts, threatening us for the debt owed to Wells Fargo. Since we never dealt with Wells Fargo, we knew nothing about it and the man James Street and us, went rounders on th ephone about this debt. I called the Chicago Title Co., in Victorville, Ca and they and us, sent this collection agency proof that this account was paid and even deed proof, that no debt was owed on the property.in fact that property has since been sold again and the deed still shows no problem with the deed, having any past due mortgage on it. I talked to Wells Fargo people and spent hours on the phone. Oh, they were all so nice and each gave me a different number to call. Then today I decided to check more and call more numbers and to my surprise Wells Fargo never credited the mortage as being paid and then about 6 years later ripped off a collection company and sold this account to them.
I now have a copy of the cancelled check. It has the account number correct, it has the address it was to be sent to correct per the letter in Iowa and the kicker is it shows being processed through a Phoenix, AZ bank. The last step of calls was to the area called WELLS FARGO RECOVERY and SALES department. This is where the nice stopped. I asked why they did nto clear this debt and why they sold it to a collection agnecy and the ladysiad it was not their problem and to clear it up with the coampan theysold it to. I wanted to send them proof of payment and acceptance and they refused and said they will not close the account until this collection agency finds in our favor. This agency plans to sue for money that was paid almost 6 years ago. So people, hold on to all those checks and Receipts as down the road they will come out and try to get you to apu up after they sell a bogus debt to someone who is experienced in harrassment and threats. The lady at last stop in my Wells Fargo episode was nasty and hug up on me and after sent the proof of payment to Creative Recovery Concepts, they got angry and threatened us and told us never to call there again because they had the money to put us down.
To end this, DO Not deal with WELLS FARGO ever and I hope some how, all of us can find a way to get all the proof together of our complaints against them and flood the FTC now, not only with our complaints but the proof with the complaints. I have been told it is impossible to clear it up with the credit bureau and that it makes it worse.
