In 1996 Western Bank in Sioux Falls, SD was purchased by First Bank Systems. Since that time, First Bank has sold to US Bank. Checing account was closed due to First Bank requirement that accounts with a balance below $ would be charged a $25.00 per month fee. The account was closed in May of 1996.
In November of 1996 a statement was received stating there was an overdraft on this account. Bank was called since we had moved to Minnesota stating that account was closed.in February 1997 a letter was again received from First Bank with another overdraft notice. Letter was sent to First Bank with no response.
The account was turned over to collection in the fall of 1997 at which time the correspondence and account information was turned over to a VP of First Bank in St. Cloud, MN. Were told at that time that this would be taken care of.
Upon checking a credit report have found out that this account has been turned over to collection. Never once has any correspondence or communication been received from this bank. It is impossible to talk to a person at US Bank. You are always put on hold and then put into voicemail with no return calls. Cannot get this situation resolved and why should I pay a bank fees when the account had a balance in it at the time it was closed.
