I received a letter in the mail back on November 9. I found the letter was odd and seemed like a scam. I had jsut a few years back made sure all debt was paid off. They incorrectly spelled my first name, used my maiden name - over 10 years ago - and a current address. I was concerned because I did not recall having any credit card with Montgomery Ward, can't say as I know who they are.
When I called in regards to the letter, I spoke with Mr. Darwin Mitchell. He requested my social security number and I would not give out that information. I gave him the numbers that they referenced on their letter to me stating I owe $114.68. He stated he would not give me any information unless I gave him my social security. Maybe I should have but I felt like too much of the letter seemed incorrect and pieced together.
I requested my credit report today from 3 credit reports and not one had any reference to this creditor "Montgomery Ward" or any of the numbers listed on the collection letter. Mr. Darwin Mitchell was extremely rude and had no interest in resolving this. I felt I gave him all the information with Account numbers and file number and the fact he refused to explain what this was.
I am soo irritated. These people are rotten. I am confident that this is bogus. I called again recently, the representative put me on hold and transferred me to a Nick Zagorski. I am waiting to hear back. Since my initial call - I have heard or received nothing. Is this a legitimate business
