Stole 129.95 directly from account with specific denial of authorization

After applying for a legitimate credit card, Platinum Benefit called my wife the next day to "confirm our information." Due to the nature of the call she became confused and thought they were the credit card we had applied for earlier. She then proceeded to give them our bank info.

After she was prompted to accept a charge for 129.95 directly from our bank account, she realized what was going on and wanted to cancel. She was then transfered to a "manager" who told her she could not cancel. She still refused to give her authorization. The "manager" then told her she would not be charged if we sent back the terms and conditions 14 days after receiving them.

We, of course, never received them OR a phony credit card we never applied for. And, OF COURSE, the withdrew 129.95 from our account, on December 23rd, causing 9 checks for last minute Christmas shopping to bounce. We are disputing it with our bank at the moment, and hoping they will give us back our bounced check charges as well.

When we called the company, a supervisor told my wife and I that we could have easily canceled in the begining by using a certain number. We were never told about this number. We got nowhere with Platinum Benefit Group as far as rectifying this problem and are looking to file a lawsuit if possible.
