We purchased our 1st home, Sebring was finacing us, 2 weeks later Homecoming took it over. We purchased the home for 102,000. Then my husband's company was moving most of there operations over to India so we put the house up for sale, we had a buyer for the home then they backed out. Homecomings discussed about a short sale of the home or they were going to forclose on our home. We put the house on the market for 125,000 got another buyer but by this time we had already moved and my husband took another job, so our realtor Lita Handy-Peters was dealing with the mortgage company for us. Well we closed on the house did not get any money out of it. We thought it was all over and done with.
Then I get a letter from the IRS saying that Homecomings wrote off 14,000 dollars in debt for us, and that we owed 2,000 and something to the IRS, so I got all my papers together and send it off to the IRS, IRS sent me a letter saying sorry and that we do not owe anything, I even have that letter, I tried several times to contact Homecomings, but they are not willing to talk with us. Now it is on our credit report saying settlement less then the amount owed, and I do not know what to do I don't even know if they owe us money.
