I called this company and they said they were collectiing for Mapnad Vitatel Cons, a company that bought out a long distance company Voice Net USA when they went into bankrupcy. They faxed me a copy of a bill dated 5/11 of which I never received. This is the first correspondence I have received from any company concerning this bill. I told them I could not believe they can try to collect a bill over 4 years old that I didn't even know about. Originally I said I was not paying this bill because I thought they were fraudulent.
I called back and told them I would pay the bill (I have excellent credit and I did not want to take the chance of them reporting to Experian as I noted in another consumer complaints) They asked for a phone check or a credit card which I refused to give them. I said I would send a check only for the amount, not the interest, at which time the manager rudely said he would still report the unpaid interest to Experian as a bad debt.
