If you have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in reagrds to the Global Financial and other affiliated parites, they have issued settlement vs. First American Payment Processing, Inc. - the company that was responsible for processing your payments to Global Financial.
Here is the letter that I received in the mail on August 25:
Dear Consumer,
The FTC, the nation's consumer protection agency, recently settled a lawsuit against First American payment Processing, Inc. The FTC alleged that the defendants violated the law when they helped fraudulent telemarketers by electronically debiting consumers' bank accounts.
The settlement bans First American Payment Processing from processing payments obtained from consumers through outbound telemarketing and forbids them from assisting deceptive and abusive telemarketers. The company also is required to pay the FTC money to be used for consumer refunds.
According to our records, your bank account was debited by the defendants without your authorization. The enclosed check is your share of the monetary judgement. Please call us toll-free on 1-866-535-1628 if you have any questions about your check.
Sincerely,
Office of the Settlement Administrator
