Ripoff rude fraudulent excessive charges poor customer service

Compass Bank has been a nightmare to deal with! The first red flag my husband and I received was when the branch representative had difficulty getting our checking/savings account opened. Somehow we suffered under Compass for several years. However, when I suddenly started racking up NSF charges and called to inquire what was going on, the rude & callous treatment I received by a "customer service" representative was the last straw.
My husband and I thought we were closing our account at the end of May. We were wrong. We were simply taking all the money out of our accounts. Compass Bank used a loophole so that when overlooked company tried to send their automatic payment withdraw through, it magically "opened" the account up again, and ultimately resulting in - you guessed it - more NSF charges. The first representative I talked with today starting grilling *me* about who made a certain deposit last month. Neither my husband or myself have touched either account since we erroneously thought we had "closed" them. She put me on hold... And eventually hung up on me. I called the 1-800 number again. A different woman argued with me that the account was only just closed last month (July).

I am in the process of filing complaints with other agencies regarding this bank. I have never, ever, in my life had to deal with a business that has been so rude, uncaring and unresponsive to its customers.
