I was called yesterday on behalf of mastercard and was offered a pre approved mc with a 5000 limit. No annual fee. 0% the first 12 months Plus a fixed 4.99 after the intro period. I was so excited about it because i have NO credit whatso ever and it was extremely exciting. So just being woke up by the phone i get all of the information out and tell the guy on the phone who never once told me his name but all i heard was mastercard.
After giving them my info.including drivers lis. # and SS# bank acct # everything they told me that there was a one time fee of $349.00 due on the 15th of august. I said HELL NO. I'm not letting you do that. Thats my rent money. Then they hung up on me.
I called Mastercard, and told them my concerns. They told me that they would give me a number to be contacted every time someone tried to run a credit check on me. I did all of that. But they also informed me that Mastercard NEVER does business for themselves they ALWAYS go through a bank. Such as Direct Merchants bank. Etc.
I closing my bank acct. Yesterday so i though hey if it was just someone trying to steal my idenity I would find out. I was so scared.
Today they called again. Except a few different things this time. I was approved for 2000 dollar limit and i would be charged 249.00 dollars. I told them my concerns. The lady was sooo rude. I said no and got the number for customer service and the name of the company this time also i got the city.
After work today. (By the way i should know better because i am a telemarketer on behalf of discover finanical services, im so stupid!) i called master card and got the number to the fraud dept. To report what was done. Hopefully those people will not call me anymore.
Thank goodness no one took my money but i hope that noone else gets scammed. What kind of ppl are in this world?
