Household Bank purposely makes mistakes with online payments

Earlier this year I made a payment online for my husbands Household Bank Gold Card five days prior to the due date. Later we received his statement and found out that the payment was posted six days later and he was charged a late fee which of course but him over the limit then he was charged an over the limit fee.

I logged on to our banking account and verified that the payment was made five days prior to the due date and was taken by Household Bank. I called and argued with the gentleman on the phone who reluctantly agreed to back out the charges.

Three months later I get an email from Household telling us the card was over the limit and there were $109.00 in service fees. I called Household to find out how this happened since we were no where near the limit and was told it was because we payed with a check over the phone and it was declined by our bank.

First of all, the payment was made online not over the phone and had is been declined by our bank we would have been notified by our bank. I requested that a statement be sent to our home so I could review the charges and review the creditbility of these charges. Meanwhile, we were receiving up to seven calls a day from Household asking for payment.

After reviewing the charges, I noticed Household had reversed the last two digits of our account number. I pointed this out to them and it was odd that the lady on the other end was able to recognize so fast. She agreed to back out the charges and I agreed to double our payment since they infact did not get the previous months payment due to their own error.

Not more than one day later, we were receiving up to seven calls a day from Household trying to collect the $109.00. I really went off on them this time telling them I was prepared to pursue this with the States Attorneys Office it was not cleared up immediately.

We are happy to report we have not heard from them since.
