Ripoff, Misapplied payment, cancelled policy, and would not refund money. Los Angeles California

Progressive screws up and the customer pays for it!

I mailed our yearly premium to Progressive [via banking online] for a due date of 6/4. All info [account #, etc] Progressive needed was correct.

A cancellation notice was sent to us saying they did not receive our payment.By AZ law we could not drive the vehicle uninsured. When we called about the issue, we sent the proof of payment. No one said it would be OK to drive [even w/o current proof of insurance].

My bank said that Progressive's bank stamped it for 6/3 and posted 6/6. Progressive did not fix the problem [their error as they posted it to the wrong account] until 6/27 three weeks later.

I asked for compensation for those 3 weeks that the vehicle was unusable. Progressive says we were insured since the issue was being researched [though no one told us this] and their system cannot handle a refund of that money. The only way we could get it is if they re-did the policy; meaning our insurance would show a laps w / the state [not good].

Seems Progressive has a great way to get money for nothing. It may have not been big bucks but it was still my money.
