We have been with Conseco, Green Tree, or whoever they are this week for 10 years. They have continually harassed us, all hours of the day and night. "Pack your bags and get out of our House NOW!"
My husband was disabled and out of work when we financed. They had no problem financing and swallowing up our $11,000 cash down payment. Our land was already paid for, and they initially accepted a land in lieu agreement, but rescinded it without notifying us. This was our first home purchase. We were not well informed and unfortunately, our mobile home sales agency was also corrupt.
Our property taxes were supposed to be included in our payment, we did not know that they weren't until our land was up for sale at county courthouse. Well, Conseco to the rescue, or so they pretended. They paid the Taxes, and then added them to our monthly statement. Making our payments outrageously inflated, and there was no way we could keep up, let alone catch up. Then the harrassment started. One representative after another.
First they would speak to me and make one statement, the next time my husband would speak to them and they would tell him the exact opposite, or make false statements about my conversations with them. They even made unauthorized withdrawls from my checking, causing checks I had written to overdraw the account, meaning that we incurred substantial overdraft fees with our bank. Then they told us the person who did that had been fired.
But guess who called the very next week???
We have struggled severely over the years, with failing health issues, I had Quadruple bypass a year ago. And the payments were too large to make on my husbands income. We also have two teenage boys to feed. But Conseco didn't care about that, they even went so far as to "Suggest" that we visit all of the foodbanks in the area to feed our family, so long as they got their payment.
We have been in "Foreclosure" several times and with help from family, and by the grace of God, we have somehow managed to pull out of it. But this just means that we get "Legal Fees" of thousands of dollars added to our principal, for the single form letter sent by their attorney, who is profiting heavily from his association with Greentree. Talk about a scam!!!
Our credit report is littered with negative activity with Greentree Conseco. They have reported late payments for 10 years, even when the payments were on time or early. They can put anything they choose to conjure up in our file and we can't do anything about it.
The mobile home that we purchased 10 years ago for $29,000 has a principle balance of $22,000 today. We have tried to refinance but cannot find anyone who will deal with us because we are currently with Greentree. So we remain stuck in a living HELL with Greentree, Conseco, with no hope of getting out.
With all of the stress of my multiple medical issues, and the financial stress, my husband and I have seperated. Being forced to go on public assistance was not my idea of the American Dream. So far, I'm holding things together. But taxes are still due and there is no way to pay them, so Greentree will get the pleasure of adding more $ to my account, and they may just get there wish this time. And we will be homeless. Which in my opinion is the ultimate goal of Greentree.
I pray for anyone who is unfortunate enough to have to deal with these scam artists.
