The company called me saying that I was eligible to get software that would help me write a grant application. They said, "Everyone who has used our services has gotten more than the amount of grant money they thought they would get, " or something like that. They argued with me for a while, trying to convince me that they weren't a scam. They got really frustrated and said they were trying to help me.
The phone rep. Was clearly Indian, so I guess my white liberal guilt got to me and I felt bad thinking to myself that these were underpaid workers hired only because of their willingness to be underpaid. I gave them my bank acct. And then a few minutes after hanging up, I decided to search for the company name, and the address they gave me, on the internet. The company name was nowhere to be found, and sure enough, a similar address in Mesquite, on the same street showed up on this website.
The next day, I closed my bank account and opened a new one. Unfortunately, I don't remember their exact address or phone number. I must have thrown out the paper I wrote it down on. But, if any suspicious salesperson gives you an address in Mesquite, NV, especially if it is on Sandhill Rd, be careful. I'm lucky they didn't get a chance to take my money and run.
