Back in 1998 the FHA sent out letters to all (?) their Home mortgagee's that they would no longer be doing this type of lending, and if you were now a part of this program (low income familly's) you would have to seek another lender to pick up your contract. Just as quick as this was dumped on us just 2 weeks after we were contacted by AMC and was offered an attractive deal and there was no problem with the fact of our income. The one question at this time was what we felt our home was valued, and had we any liens against us. After a couple days of answering questions an appointment (over the phone) was set up for an interview. Thru about 4-5 weeks of back and forth paper work we were approved for financeing and a sales person would soon meet with us at our home. On Christmas Eve, in the middle of a snow storm, 9:00 in the eve that person showed, even tho two days before that we had told them it would be best to do buisness after the holidays and that our son was just envolved in a car accident and in the hospital in entinsive care with a broken neck, to bo opperated on asp. We couldn't believe this lady showed, with a friend as company and wanted to be so careing that they would make it as quick as possible and make sure we agreed on the mortgage finianceing so all papers could be signed and closed on before the first of the year. SO WE THOUGHT! With witness's present (son and daughter inlaw) we signed. What the outcome of this was; alot more papers signed, with our initals, we never seen... Disability ins., ended up meaning flood ins. (we live in the ADIRONDACKS)... First payment, $ much more than told it was going to be, and all the others... Equallty, they took it back... And our contract/mortgage agrement, contact, good faith agrement all "NOTORIZED-SIGNED-WITNESSED-STAMPED-with the NJ seal in front of all, signed by my wife and myself, in the State of NJ, where WE NEVER HAVE EVER BEEN.
We live in Lake Luzerne, NY, the ONLY papers we have ever signed with AMERIQUEST was at our dinning room table, on Christmas Eve. Yes there was red flags, our son's life was in Gods hands, our home we worked so hard for, a holliday that numed us, and people who seemed to have gone above and beyond to help us at these times... We trusted. There is alot more to this, but as you can see I'm not very good at this typeing and this way of comunicating, so if you live close to or in our area, please contact me and I'd be happy to fill in the rest of this nightmare, or if you should be an ATTORNEY and would like to have a new client PLEASE, PLEASE contact us. Good luck to all of you others who have been taken advantage of, we wish you the best. Thank you, Lake Luzerne, NY.
