I was approached by Adam at Ameriquest Mortgage Company to refinance my home after I had been casually looking at the possible opportunities. Adam contacted me several times by phone and was insistent to refinance my home making the offer nicer each time. Although he knew I was a disabled widow on Social Security, he told me he could "fix" it so I could not only get a loan but some extra cash even though I told him I didn't want that much money. After I told him I would think about it, he called one day and told me there would be a "notary come to my house" to sign the papers and get my money. I was so shocked I didn't say no so the notary came and without allowing me time to read the papers, I stupidly signed them. Now, I have a huge house payment on my slight income and at the end of this year, I will not be on a fixed rate of the loan.
In December, I received a phone call from the title loan company telling me that I would need to resign some papers because my deceased husband's name is on the loan papers and it wasn't supposed to be. They fedexed me some papers and after getting to read them at my leisure, I discovered they were trying to change many things I didn't agree to in the initial agreement. I did not send the papers back in the fedex envelope at their cost.
The Ameriquest Mortgage Company has broken the "truth in lending" practices by falsafying many facts on my loan.
