PNC opt in or out program of overdraft protection

We currently opted in to the program based on how the program was explained to us, however it wasn't explained properly and we ended up with a large amount of overdrafts. Had the program been explained fully to us at the time we never would have opted in. When I called the customer service line I was connected to a gentleman that was extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable of the program. He took the time to explain the program at which time I opted back out of the program. He told me that even if you are in the negative you'd still be able to use the ATM to withdraw cash. At the time we opted in we were not told this and believed that the protection was for automatic payments and checks and once you were in the negative you would not be able to use the ATM. We were wrong. The amount you can go into the negative is based on the type of checking account you have. The program isn't the best thing PNC offers, however the customer service rep I had was outstanding and went way above my expectations of trying to help me get this resolved. Needless to say I still have a large overdraft total to pay because the program wasn't explained properly. Not happy with program but kuddos to customer service. I feel that the people that are telling you about programs that are being offered should have very through training before they tell people about these offers and should be required to be tested before they go to the public.
