In May '04 I received a statement from NCO Financial to pay off an old credit account.in the letter, they said that I could accept a settlement. So, I didn't wait, I sent them a check the next day. My husband and I are trying to clean up our credit account, so we are paying off any of our old debts. I have pulled a credit report from all three reporting agencies and NCO had not changed my account to paid. It was still showing a status of unpaid. I sent letters and copies of the checks to the credit agencies and to NCO and have been told that NCO refuses to admit I paid the account off.
So, now my credit is ruined and I am unable to get credit anywhere. I am very frustrated, because I am now going to have file for bankruptcy. A couple of weeks ago, my van died and I needed to replace it. I was upside down on my payments, so the only way to get rid of it without repossession was to get a new vehicle. But because of NCO, I was unable to do so, so now my car is being repossed and I am going to be filing bankruptcy.
