I obtained a loan for a SUV from UACC in March. I came upon some financial hardships and was unable to make the payments so they repossessed the vehicle in August. I was then sued for $2500 which was the difference between what they resold the vehicle for and what I owed and as of June I paid the $2500 in full. I realize that the repossession will remain on my credit report for at least another 3 years but just as of March of this year UACC is still reporting the debt as being unpaid. Which is making my debt to earnings ratio incorrect. Fortunately for me, I have been able to recover from the difficulties I experienced in 2004 and have gotten my credit pretty much back on track except for this debt or should I say ex debt to UACC. I have tried to dispute it with the 3 major credit reporting agencies but they say they only remove the debt if it is found not to be legitimate which in all fairness it is, it's just not being reported by UACC correctly. Unfortunately for me, UACC is not as diligent about answering or returning phone calls regarding their own mistakes as they are at making them to their consumers about theirs. Is there anything I can do to have them report the debt as paid and does anyone know if the credit reporting agencies use the "date opened" or the "date last reported" to determine when they debt will fall off my credit report?
