The sales associate, Andrea Collins for First Link Benefits called on October 18 and asked me to pay a fee of $354.90 for a Master Card that had already been approved for me. If I could pay this fee, I would receive a Gateway Computer and a free digital camera along with the Master Card.
I asked her if this was legitimate and would I actually receive a card or an application. She stated that I would receive the card. I also asked her when my computer and camera would arrive. Andrea told me that my computer would arrive in 7-10 business days.
After I told her I would like to make the transaction she gave the phone to another person named Layla who confirmed the transaction and said she was recording the approval.
What I received was a small package containing an application for the master card, an order form for the digital camera with a $39.95 shipping and handling fee and an order form for Peoples Internet in which I would be required to pay a fee for their service before I could get the Gateway computer.
I asked for my money back the day I received the package. I was told that I could request that a manager return my call the next business day, in which I then requested. I have yet to hear from anyone at First Link Benefits.
