We have perfect credit and pay off our balance every month, have never had a late payment. I used it to pay college tuition last fall, and quickly realized I had inadvertently gone over our limit. I tried to make two phone payments with our HELOC account at Bank Of America, and both were declined. FIA charged us exorbitant fees and closed our account for 6 months. We were treated very poorly by the Customer Service Supervisor.
We use the card for about $30,000 per year - we don't need or deserve this treatment. I tried to close the account but can't until the 6 months are up. Then they tried to charge us the annual fee. And then, they had the nerve to charge us via automatic payment $7000, when I had already paid off the balance, because I don't want anything more to do with them. I asked to be reimbursed the $7,000 and that I not be contacted by their company ever again. A week later I get a letter from a Customer service rep stating that even though our money was reimbursed, we are still liable for any further charges. So much for no more contact - and how the hell could we charge anything when the account is blocked?
Then I find out Bank of America is related to FIA.
Crooks.
We now give our business to a credit card company with a better reputation who deserves our business, and can't wait till we can formally close the card in 3 months.
