Palm Beach Tan Halsey Location Portland OR - Palm Beach Tan Membership Program

The customer service of this company is terrible. I signed up with Palm Beach tan prior to a vacation. That was my first mistake. The up-sell at this place is over the top. I signed on for a minimal tanning package. It was my understanding that the terms of this agreement lasted 1 year.in the fall of that same year, I had a skin cancer removed from my leg. At that time, the Dr. Advised against tanning. Hence, I went on line to try to cancel my account. Well, you can't cancel on line, you have to go to the store. I went to the store, and explained that I would not be tanning again due to my medical circumstance. They tried to sell me on spray tanning and a bunch of other stuff. I said no, I would not be using the salon anymore. The OWNER of the store then had me freeze my account. At the time, I thought I was doing so because the terms of my contract were not up. I was accepting that I might have to pay a monthly fee during the contract period. It is now past the contract period, in fact it has been 1 year since my first attempt to cancel my membership. I called to ask why I am still being billed. The girl at the store can look my account up, she had all the history in front of her, yet she can not cancel my account. She also informed me there is no contract. So what was all that paperwork I had to sign when I joined? She then tells me I have $90 worth of store credit. I informed her that I had a skin cancer removed and was advised not to tan. There is nothing in that store that I want. At this point, I will take the loss. I just want my darn account cancelled. The girl refused to do so over the phone. Apparently I have to come back in to cancel, which is what I thought I had done a year ago. This is horrible service. I is obvious they want me to come in the store to try to sell me on other product and service. I just want to be done with these people. This behavior is egregious. I have a valid medical reason to terminate my relationship with these people. They know who I am when I call. I attempted to cancel once before and had no idea I was freezing my account. Why would anyone think that I would want that based on my reason for termination? I told these people it is a health risk for me. I don't get it. They can keep my $90 in store credit, it is a profit center for them no doubt. While I don't appreciate that this is likely how these stores make some of their money, I accept that I am ultimately responsible myself in the situation. Clearly I did not understand the terms of the agreement when I attempted to cancel. However, I should not be required to go back into the store to cancel at this point. Particularly when there is no contract in place. This is so stupid and frustrating you can not imagine. This is not how we treat our customers at our work.
