Disappointed/Confused - installation

DISAPPOINTED
December 26 I made the decision to switch my internet and tv services. My initial interaction with both companies was satisfying. Good and prompt service. AT&T was scheduled to install internet on January 5th and Directv on January 6th. However I had to reschedule Directv for January 7th. No problems there. January 5th AT&T came and installed their box on the outside of my house for wiring, and Saturday Directv showed up for the installation of the dish. So far service from both companies was fantastic. Then the problems began. Through no fault of AT&T I needed them to return to fix wiring problems with the house and they promptly arrived on Sunday morning. The technician took a look inside the house first and then went out to check the box on the side of the house. Imagine his surprise when he found the Directv dish mounted in front of the box. I rang Directv that same morning, explained to them that their technician had mounted the dish right in front of the AT&T box. I requested them to send another technician to remove and remount the dish in a different location, away from all boxes on the side of the house. They were very polite on the phone and told me the earliest they could send someone would be Tuesday, January 10th. That left me without TV for two days, which to be honest, wasn't a big deal. I went ahead and set up the appointment for Tuesday afternoon (January 10th) and informed them that they should phone my neighbour when they were arriving, as she would let them in the house. I wash shocked when I got home and she told me that the technician did not move the dish. The technician who came out was not the same man who had installed the dish on Saturday, so he rang him to get the details. Imagine my horror when that technician said that AT&T had installed the box AFTER he had installed the dish, thus making me out to be a liar. Had I known this was going to be an issue, I would have left the paperwork out as proof of when the box was installed. So now this morning I am going to have to call Directv again and go over all this once more.

CONFUSED
The technician did mention that the dish is very sensitive and that should the kids knock it whilst playing outside, then I would need to realign the dish again. I have no clue how to do that and I don't want to have to deal with it. My question is: is it better to have the dish mounted to the side of the house or on the roof? Does it make any difference with reception and problems during bad weather at all? I have also been told that having the dish mounted too close to the AT&T box can cause problems with the internet. Is this true?

Bottom line: I am disappointed with the technician who originally installed the dish; for not paying attention where he mounted the dish. However, I do understand that mistakes happen and I wasn't making a big deal of it. I just wanted (want) the dish remounted somewhere else for in case of future problems with wiring and someone needing to get into any of the boxes without having to move the dish and losing tv signal. My biggest issue is that the technician did not own up to his mistake and accused me of lying.

As a new customer, this is very upsetting and I'm having second thoughts about the switch.
