When I dropped Comcast, I called both
Dish and Direct Tv for pricing. The price I was quoted at Dish was going to be more than the price I was quoted at Direct tv.
However,,,
The woman who was in the Phillipines or somewhere other than the US, gave me an
incorrect quote.
When I got my first bill it was $25. More per month, than the quote.
I called to complain and they said
that was the rate and they couldn't possibly trace back to the person who'd
misquoted the amount. I tried to speak to some kind of supervisor, but was told that this foreign speaking person was the supervisor and there was nothing he could or would do. Basically, I was SOL and under a 2 year contract.
By this time, a guy had come to install
my dish. He wanted to make some extra money, so he told me I needed to have the dish concreted into the back yard on a post instead of on my roof. This would be an additional fee of $90. Payable to him.
I was concerned that the DVR he gave me
made a loud noise all the time. I mean, you can hear it in the other room. He said this was normal. After a few days of this annoying noise, I called to complain. They sent another guy out and he said. Oh, that's normal.
The dish was installed in a spot where
every time it rains, my signal goes out.
I called about this, and the guy said I
needed to trim the trees. I spent an
additional $250 to have the trees trimmed, but the signal still goes out
every time it storms.
I still have the crappy, noisy DVR unit
that my electrician brother says is probably bad. I turn it off whenever I'm not using that TV. It takes 20 minutes or so for the signal to come back on when I turn it back on.
It's a complete hassle and I am so sorry
I signed up with these people.
I still have a year to go with my contract.
If you're thinking about going with Direct TV, don't.
I had Dish several years back and never had any of these issues.
Direct TV is horrible.
