I'm sorry to hear that other folks have had problems. My Direct TV experience has been great. I was a former cable guy. I just got tired of Comcast raising my rates and finally decided to take a chance on something else. My installer showed up on time and suggested a better location for the dish if I trimmed some branches from a tree. I did so and next weekend he showed up on time again. He had requested this job over my getting another installer because he was already familiar with my yard (large trees, steep grade, etc). He was professional and friendly. He installed a post in an obscure location in my yard (shake rooves are not good candidates for roof installation). He dug the hole and installed the antenna mount and dug a trench to the house. He carefully wired everything up taking extra care and even grounding some cable leads that were previously not correctly grounded. He did the internal wiring as well and tested all the equipment and asked if I had questions prior to leaving. It took hours and he was hard working, courteous and professional the whole time despite running into some snags. As I said, he provided all cables to my TV's calibrated everything and tested all the gear before leaving. It has worked great.in the months that it has been operating since it was installed I have experience 1 5-10 second interruption in service during a hail storm. I was a little concerned living so far north and in a rainy area, but weather has been a non-issue. Overall the service has been better and more reliable than my former Comcast cable. The interface on the DVR's is very good and they have lots of hard drive storage space. There are many more HD channels than I had on Comcast. I wasn't really a HD nut but there is so much HD that I'm starting to get addicted. Overall I'm delighted with the technology and the service I was given. Maybe there is a lot of variation in service level based on location, but here in the Seattle areas (Redmond/Bellevue area) I have to say that the level of service was very high and that the quality and reliabiity of the signal is outstanding. I was at first a little nervous about how things would work, but I have become a definite fan of Direct TV. I'm sorry others have reported problems. That's the exact opposite of what I have experienced. Everything I have seen indicated that at least the local team here was very dedicated to providing a great product. I highly recommend Direct TV.
