I have a serious complaint about DirectTV.in late fall my uncle was diagnosed with inoperable cancer and given only a short time. I wanted to make him a little more comfortable at his home so I ordered DirectTV for him (he's out of range for cable services) and tried to get him setup for the service advertised on the web, for 200 channels etc. At a special price, and have the service installed at his address but billed to me. I had to explain over and over what I needed and finally when I thought the individual understood and would set it up properly, argued back and forth because I was forced into a 2 year contract when I lost the phone connection. I called back and explained again. The individual I spoke with said that they had my information and understood. What they actually did is set him up for the family channel which was all Disney and kid's programs. He didn't tell me for about a week but said that he had better tv channels before. I called the company and explained the mistake but they told me that since I couldn't prove that they made a mistake, I couldn't do anything about it and to get him the package that I was supposed to get on the special web offer, it wouldn't cost $59 a month, but $109 per month! I said I couldn't afford to pay that and the problem was due to an error on their part! I had to agree to a much lesser, full price package of 150 channels (which you don't get 150 channels!) for much more money. No deals, no help, no sympathy for a dying man. Plus I'm in a 2 year contract. I am considering pursuing this with the State's attorney's office.
