Removed HD channels that were listed as part of the HD package

We reuppud with Direct Tv and leased new Hd receivers for a 2 year contract to get the HD channels. The package we signed up for was recently changed to not include 5 HD channels, these 5 channels now cost an extra $4.99 per month. We were not notified of this package change nor given the opportunity to cancel our contract. BE advised that these contracts can be changed at Direct tv's convience as a way to increase their revenues.

Your cable company may have a better deal in the long run.
Again, we were long time Direct TV customers and were for years very happy with the hardware and programing packages. But company change and sometimes not for the better. The new PVR they offer is inferior to the TiVo based units in both functionality and storage. They have switched to a lease only system with a 90 day warranty (we have already had one unit fail, even with the extended warranty they attempted to charge us full price for a refurbished replacement).

We will not be with direct tv after the contract expires. Their are other options available with better customer service and packages.
