Package weighed 6 lbs outbound but 15 lbs on return

I cannot get a response from UPS as to why a shipment from Brooklyn, NY weighing in at 6 lbs, weighed 15 lbs when I returned the same package and contents to Brooklyn, NY from Denver, CO. Someone have her fingers on the scale in Denver?
