I provided the day (5 days prior to the due date), the date mailed and the check number for my mortgage payment in the amount of $255.87. The ten-day grace period is not until 3/30.
Starting 3/22/10 I received multiple calls per day (as many as 6). I responded to one email and called back, and again provided the day (5 days prior to the due date), the date mailed and the check number for the mortgage payment in the amount of $255.87. Multiple calls were recorded on each of the following days: 3/22/10, 3/23/10, 3/24/10, 3/25/10, 3/26/10 and 3/27/10.
On 3/25/10 I called the number left on the answering machine (1st message left) and provided the information that I had responded to the email, the date of the check, that it was mailed the next day, and the check number. I provided the same information to the rep who answered the call (India is not provided with email responses from the states, no fax, no email, just instructions to call SEVERAL times per day). The same night I received another call 5 minutes after I provided the information; the caller stated, "Oh, I do see the note, sorry."
10 minutes later there was another call. Before the caller was given a chance to speak, I told them that I had provided email verification of payment, and that I had provided the day, date mailed and check number for the mortgage payment within the last 30 minutes to one of their reps. I explained the same to another caller within the last 30 minutes. The caller said, "Oh, I do see that note, can I speak to Dominic?" I responded that I do not and have never had anyone by that name at my residence.
On 3/26/10 I called and explained that I am reporting the harassing calls to as many agencies as possible. I was transferred to customer service, where I repeated all correspondence, and the rep requested the last 4 of my SS number. I refused to provide SS info, because our federal and state agencies say not to divulge any SS info over the phone. I requested an email or mailing in which Citibank would agree to pay for a stop payment on the original check so a reissue could be prepared. The rep refused because I would not provide my SS #.
This complaint is being sent to a variety of agencies.
