I have been a cardholder with the Green Dot company for over two years now, maybe longer. I am writing in regard to my account. My card has been blocked for about a month now. I have complied with their company's requirements to receive my money, but still nothing.
This year around tax time I loaded my refund onto my Green Dot card and instantly received my money. Although their company gave me a hard time pulling my money off my card for security reasons, I still referred their company to my neighbors and family members. Two neighbors and my sisters all had no bank accounts, so I gave them permission to use my account to get their refunds faster.
Now here is where the problem comes in. My neighbors paid me one hundred dollars each to upload their refunds into my account, which I did, and I gave them their money. Next, my sister uploaded her refund onto my account and, like the others, she paid me one hundred dollars. The only thing is, this is my little sister, so she asked me to hold her money for her to make sure she does not spend it.
Since then, their company has placed a hold on my account. I was told that the hold would be lifted 10 days after I sent in the documents needed, so I went ahead and got a loan to pay my sister her money. But now the ten days are up, and the person I borrowed the money from wants it back.
I have complied completely with everything asked. I sent in a copy of my ID, my Soc# card, my sister's ID and Soc# card, and a notarized letter from the courts saying that she gave her permission for her tax refund to be deposited into my account.
Right before this incident I booked a trip to CA, and I am out here, stuck from WA, with no way to get home, no money and no help whatsoever from their staff. I have a five-year-old child who is hungry, and we have no place to sleep. My cell phone is being cut off in the morning, and I was evicted from my apartment. I have proof and documents of all this, due to their company putting a hold on my card.
So I decided to do research and saw that this has happened before. The agent says that he or she cannot read the documents and to re-fax them, and I re-faxed them with the same result. I do not know what to do anymore. I have hit rock bottom, and it is not like it was $20 or anything. It was a $2000 tax refund, all gone. I have no way to get back to WA, no other funds, and every last person I could borrow money from has their money tied up in this situation... Please help.
