This is one more chapter in my continuing trouble with StoresOnline. The window for canceling with StoresOnline lasted three days, and only after it had closed did I find out how disreputable that company is. I then got a provisional credit from Citi.
Citi sent me a letter asking for further information. It was mailed on June 22 and reached me on July 3, which means 11 days in the mail. I should point out that I live in CA, only one state to the west.
The letter allowed me just FIVE days to reply! Apparently I was supposed to pay for pricey overnight shipping through FedEx or a similar service. I assumed the postmark date would count, but it did not: they insisted on having my reply in hand within five days. The IRS honors postmarks, yet Citi does not.
Lately they also mailed us a second letter about the dispute, again requesting more information, and it carried the wrong account number!
Throughout my 90 days for disputing the charge, they told me:
- that it was sent to the wrong address (a lie)
- they provided a fax number that worked, but it was not the number for disputes.
We are seriously considering suing them in small claims court.
