When we signed up with direct TV we told them we were not interested in the NFL Ticket, even though it was a free promotional item. It showed up on our bill for no charge anyway. We didn't think anything about it, until this football season began. We have automatic payment, so as long as I see my payments drafted on my account I rarely look at the bill. Well, my payment was higher so I looked. As it turns out they automatically began charging me for the NFL Ticket this season, because I was signed up last season (even though we specifically asked not to be). I called to get it straightened out. I even offered a compromise - I won't argue what has already been paid, but I would like future charges cancelled. The line I heard repeatedly from Customer Service and supervisors was, "I'm sorry. We can't change the billing after the season has started. There was a note with your bill in June." I admit to not seeing the note in June, but to AUTOMATICALLY charge me $150 over 6 months for a service I did not request is theft. To expect a customer to call to REFUSE an automated service rather than to call to REQUEST such a service is an incredibly deceptive business practice. I will be canceling my service.
