North Texas Transit Authority (NTTA)
North Texas Transit Authority, NTTA, Incorrect Billing, Excessive Charges & Lack of Response

I received a Zipcheck billing from NTTA for $2.62 including charges over a year old. I have two cars both with toll tags so I thought perhaps a credit card had expired. However, I could not log onto their web site in many tries using the data on their billing, etc. I then spent over an hour trying to call - hold or busy signal. Went back to the web site - no luck using other approaches so I sent several email describing the problems and waited. It said there would a quick response - not so. Another attempt to get through by phone - 35 minutes on hold busy signals. So I could not pay my paltry sum.

After two days of trying this (despite the fact I am a very busy medical professional I had heard so many horror stories of NTTA's draconian tactics I persevered, ignoring some less critical medical requests) and finally was able to pay online (0600 the 3rd day). Shortly after paying I received an email from NTTA customer service that allowed me to sign on and check my account balances, toll charges and credit information.

It turned out that my toll tag credit information was current and up to date for each month I received a Zipcheck billing and I had positive balances for each day of each month. Checking further one of the three charges was a duplication of an already paid charge on the NTTA statement and the other two did not appear on the appropriate monthly statement even though there were charges both prior and after the stated charge.

1- It is ridiculous that I had to spend so much time to sort this incorrect billing out.
2- I cannot imagine that I am the only person who receives incorrect billings. I imagine most folks just pay the amount without question (I know I would have if I could have initially signed into NTTA). I wonder how many folks get incorrect billings and just pay them - a windfall for financially straped NTTA.
3- Worst of all it frustrated me and distracted me from helping a number of the many brain injured & PTSD individuals who depend upon me.

I have detailed documentation of all the above, with copies of the web site inputs and responses. Thank you for looking this over - I appreciate any comments or an address where I can send this to the NTTA Commissioner.
