Hotels and discounts.com (800-258-1563) stated that they reserved a NON-SMOKING room for me, and only after I paid for the room, and received the confirmation, was I able to read the fine print, where they state that they cannot garranty the details of the room. When I called the hotel, you guessed it, they had IN FACT reserved a SMOKING room. Four phone calls later, I am stuck, hotels and discounts would not change the reservation or refund my money. Do not use this company for your travel. The hotel told me that this is common practice with hotels and discounts.com, which is in fact expedia, and people often come to their hotel and find there is a serious problem with the reservation. LET THE BUYER BEWARE, KEEP AWAY.
Make them change their practices, or refund money anytime they make this type of error. I do not think there is a possible resolution for me personally. After making 4 phone calls to hotels and discounts.com at 800 285-1563, and speaking to a supervisor, it is clear to me that they are intentionally dishonest. They claim that the hotel is at fault, but the hotel told me that they have this same problem with Expedia ALL THE TIME, especially in booking smoking rooms for non-smokers. Since the hotel clerk is the one with the room keys, I think her word is more important to my enjoyment of the room.
The hotel will try to help me after I check in, if posible. They will also air out the room and spray perfume, which I hate, by the way. Cigaret smoke is horrible to a non-smoker. This is not a minor issue. It is as if they were forcing me to sleep in my car, and I am going on this trip to our niece's wedding, so I do not need this aggravation.
