Ramada Plaza Resorts False Advertisement to Sell Scam Vacations and Avoid Cancellations

To all of the other individuals who have been scammed:

I am a young recent college graduate who has never been anywhere tropical in my life, and upon receiving my package in the mail I was happy to take the offer thinking it was a "deal" for such a "first-class" vacation in which they refer to as "gold-key." In their initial phone call they make you feel pressured into putting money down on the package. They asked me to authorize a debit of $698.00, and when I told them I could not do that they said, "Well, how much can you put down?" A red flag should have went up then, but I went ahead after more pressuring and put down $175.00 to get my package started.

The following day, I researched a little bit on the internet, and found several websites discussing the way they scam people into keeping their deposits, as well as how horrible the vacation is, and it seems that it is certainly not "first-class" at all. I first tried to email them, and when my message came back undeliverable, I knew something was wrong with the company. Finally, after about a week of calling and being transferred to one employee after another, I have been successful in cancelling my package, and I am supposed to be seeing a credit to my account within 7-10 days. We will see.

Some tips for those of you who are trying to get your money back: It is possible. Be persistent, friendly, and conversational on the phone. If one representative is rude to you (because they will be when discussing them losing commission by refunding your money-there is probably a certain quota they must meet...) hang up and call back. You will get someone that will work with you eventually. If they want to extend your package, add things to it, or whatever, politely tell them no and continue to ask for a refund. The representative who finally authorized mine was a little argumentative, but I just stayed right up there with him, and what got him was when I asked for a reason in words why I could not receive my refund. He didn't have one, but he put me on hold for about 10 minutes, thinking I would hang up. I didn't and when he came back on the line, he said I would get my refund in 7-10 days. It is possible, but even after this, I called back the next day and got a confirmation number, which I encourage you to do the same because their words apparently mean nothing. I did and right now I am waiting to receive my money. It has only been a day, but I am fairly confident that I will get it. I hope this advice helps at least one person.
