Misleading unethical extra charges not disclosed until after ticket is bought

I made reservations on CheapOair for travel for two without making a seat assignment. I followed a link in the email confirmation the next day to request one, and was presented with the option of paying $11.95 each ticket for an "enhanced" service. I declined and a popup asked WAS I SURE? Very sure, no thank you. The option of REQUESTING either an aisle or window seat, this was the free service, I did this and never heard back. I then called (more than a month later) customer service at 866-636-9088. I told the rep. I wanted seat assignments and did not want to pay. I would have to pay, he said. He informed me that Cayman Air charged for seat assignments, which I have used several times and NEVER been charged for a seat assignment. He asked if I wanted Cayman Airways phone number. Yes! I called Cayman Air and explained the situation and the helpful representative said they DO NOT CHARGE FOR SEAT ASSIGNMENTS. She asked for my confirmation code and informed me we had already been assigned seats! I was also informed on the website that Cayman Air will match any publicized fare! Next time that is what I will do. I feel CheapOair is unethical to try and charge me for seats I had already been assigned, price gouging to charge almost $12 per seat assignment, and the customer service rep. Flat out lied about Cayman Air charging for seat assignments. I will never use CheapOair again
