Little River Never stay at the Days Inn They will blame you and charge your credit card (which is required) for their horrible rooms

I made a reservation at the Days Inn in Little River, SC. I received the room at a rate of $35 per night. Little River Days Inn ended up cancelling my reservation and told me that they could not honor that rate because it was a peak season for them. I called the Days Inn corporate office and complained about this and they contacted the hotel and the hotel ended up reinstating my reservation.

I checked in to the hotel and upon arrival, when I went to my room, I called the front desk and notified them that there was a hole in the wall behind the door, the nightstand back was broken, the clothing rack was falling down, pennies and shampoo packets in the drawer, dried food or drink on 2 different walls, cigarette burns all over the bathtub and other items. (Please note, that the days inn made me give them a credit card, even though I paid cash at check-in, they said it was mandatory) Basically I called them and told them everything because I did not want to be charged for things I had not done.

The front desk sent a housekeeper to the room and she seen all of these items that were broken and dirty. She made the comment that she did not know why they sent her to the room because she could not do anythign about it. I told her it was fine, that I wanted to make certain I was not charged for the room and she made the comment that it was a good thing to do because they would of charged me if I had not of called them. She then left the room and the owner (I am thinking he was the owner) came to the room to fix the lights that were not working (we also complained about this prior) He fixed the lights and proceeded to ask me, "what does your Days Inn look like"? (I manage a days inn in NC and that is why I received such a good rate, that days inn did not close out their employee rate)

I proceeded to ask him what he meant. He said, do you not have problems like these at your hotel? I told him that we put the room off market if something is wrong, until we have someone fix the problem and he told me that they do not do that. I then stated to him also that I was fine, I just wanted to make certain that I would not be charged for those things and he assured me that I would not.

The next morning we had gotton up and left the hotel to go on the beach and when we came back, the room was cleaned and we saw a broom lieing on the credenza and the broom bristles were on top of my 1 year old daughters night clothes. That really upset me so I called Days Inn corporate and told them EVERYTHING about the room and the problems we had. I asked them if they wanted me to take pictures and email them to their office when I got back home and they said yes... That is what I did...

To make a long story short, I called the Days Inn orporate on 8-10-04 and told them I had heard nothing furthur from the Days Inn, Little River (they have to respond to my complaints within a certain amount of days) Days Inn Corporate told me that the owner Mr. Patel called them and said he had resolved the problem. I told corporate that I HAVE NOT heard ANYTHING from them... Corporate told me that I would hear something from a corporate supervisor within the next few days... I looked at my wachovia bill shortly after and I noticed a $60 pre-auth on my credit card. I called corporate back and told them about this and they said to call the property.

I called the property and they told me that they charged me for the hole in the wall and the clothing rack??? Whick THEY KNOW was broken when I checked in... This issue is still in the process with my credit card company but the hotel charged me for a room that was damaged when I checked into the hotel. They told corporate that I took the pictures after I broker the rack and put the hole in the wall... Needless to say, they were advised as soon as I checked in about the problems and I am assuming they are upset with me because of the rate I received and the fact of all the complaints I made...
