I stayed at La Copa Inn resort for the night of 3/18, and was charged $100 deposit, which was fine, but when I was checking out the front desk clerk claimed she needed the card to issue a refund.instead of issuing a refund, she charged the card again, and the general Manager, Ernie Herrera refused to credit my account, claiming it was a credit, not a debit, and that in a few days it would clear. Several days later it cleared my checking account, as a DEBIT, and I was charged an extra $100.
Now the manager is not even around the property, and I cannot get in contact with them. I have to get the money back through the bank. Since this was in South Padre Island on Texas week spring break, there is a very high chance in my opinion this may have happened to several other naive, young spring breakers, without them even noticing. The managers blatant negligence to the issue is what leads me to believe it may have been intentional, since there were at least a thousand more people in the hotel at the time (it was in-fact over-sold for that night)
