I have some "travel memories" from using Quixote Travel but they are not pleasant or wonderful to say the least. My fiancee and I had chosen Quixote Travel because of word of mouth and reputation. We wanted to go to a Sandals Resort in St. Lucia on Nov. 4 and stay until the 10th for our honeymoon. Neither of us had traveled outside the country and we thought that a "one-stop travel agency" would be ideal for our needs, in order to take care of all the little details associated with such a trip. We had no idea it would turn into a nightmare.
Renee, ' my fiancee and now wife, and I paid for the honeymoon on time and got all the documents needed for our trip. Renee' called our travel agent in your Kinston office in mid-October to make sure the trip was still valid despite the attacks on September 11th and that there was nothing left for us to do to be ready for the trip. Our travel agent told her that everything was set and to just show up with tickets and luggage at the airport. So we were ready to go, or so we thought.
When we arrived at the Charlotte airport, the Delta airline people informed us that our tickets were booked on a flight that did not exist and had not existed since September. They then informed us that there was no possible way to reach Atlanta until later in the morning. They also told us that there was no local contact number for them to have called in order to inform the travel agency about the cancellation. And, that our flight back on Nov. 10th which was requested did not exist either and that we would have had to spent the night in Atlanta with no accommodations reserved and fly back on Nov. 11th.
These revelations by the airline personnel left us devastated and depressed. We were eventually booked on a flight to Atlanta 6 hours later and had to spend our funds on a hotel room for the day in order to fly to Montegeo Bay the next morning at am. We arrived at the airport and were informed that the flight was canceled due to the hurricane and that the next flight was at 2pm that same day. Our options were to continue to wait at the airport and hope that the flight would take off as posted, stay in Jamaica for a day and a half, then fly to St. Lucia for 2 and a half days or try to salvage the majority of our honeymoon experience.
At this point, my wife and I were angry and tired of waiting in airports for flights that did not exist. We rented a car and drove to Charleston, SC to have fun for the rest of our honeymoon. Our expenses in Charleston were over $2,000 which we were not prepared to pay because we had expected to stay at the all-inclusive resort Sandals.
