I received several faxes at our corporate office regarding a 5 day/4night vacation to Hawaii for two (2 for 1 air) for $199.98, valued at $999.99.
The cost of this package that they advertise for 199.98 quickly went up to over $1200 in fees.
The details and promises made during my initial call were mostly all false, in order to get me to sign up for the package and provide them with a $400 deposit. There were also processing fees of $140 (x2). The 2 for 1 airfare was quoted to be no more than $405, which actually turned out to be $800 (going rate on Alaska air is 350 p/person with all taxes included). If i booked through their 2 for 1 airfare program, i would've already lost out $100 on airfare.
So, i was trying to make a trip to Hawaii for a wedding that was in October. I started this whole process at the end of June/early July.By the time i got the final vouchers, which still needed to be submitted for processing, which didn't arrive until September, I was already fearful that I would need to make other arrangements outside of this program. There clearly was not enough time to submit my vouchers in time to secure reservations within my required time frame. When I first called, my #1 concern was the timing of this and I was assured that there was plenty of time to secure reservations for my desired date. Obviously that was false. They send you some forms which you need to send out to other travel agencies and wait for their response and then submit their required documentation and "additional" fees.
Additionally, when I first called, I was assured that I would be able to book a room at any MAJOR hotel chain of my choice. It was re-iterated several times that I'd be able to choose ANY MAJOR HOTEL chain of my choice. According to this packet, accomodations are secured through "TRIPS Resort Condominiums". This does not sound anything like a hotel, nor is it as promised, "any major hotel chain of my choice".
Here's the kicker, the wedding was on the Big Island of Hawaii. The airfare voucher has a list of cities, designated by zones. The Big Island isn't even a valid destination for the airfare voucher!!! And the voucher expired one month after receipt. So, i can't even use this at a later date, if i so desired.
I have tried to contact all of the different agencies that I have had to deal with for this promotional package, and not a single representative responded to my inquiries or concerns. There is a total of 3-4 different groups/travel agencies that were associated to this promotion. 1) the initial sales group that sends out the faxes to get you to buyin on this scam. 2) the travel agency that you submit payment to 3) the travel agency that you submit the air voucher to 4) the Travel company that provides the accomodations.
Never again will I believe something that seems to be too good to be true, because nothing ever is as it appears to be.
One more bit of information: I checked the BBB and the web for any forums or complaints on this company "Funandsuntravel" before I signed up and there wasn't anything on them. When i check today, BBB has about 15 unresolved/unanswered complaints on this company. FunandSunTravel/LC Travel.
