Did you know that reserving a truck at uhaul does not mean they will reserve a truck for you? We reserved one over the phone with a credit card. We needed the truck on Saturday morning. Saturday is the 31st of July. I guess this should ring a few bells. Month to month rent. At 5:15 Friday evening, the dealer calls and says he doesn't have a truck for me. A couple day before I called to change the pickup time to 7am. Everything was fine then. Well, after five all the uhaul dealers in our area have gone home for the weekend. Next I call the 800 number. They confirmed that I have a reservation. They pass me on to someone else who says that the person I need to talk to is gone until Monday. She offers to call the area for possible trucks. None withing 100 miles. She does tell me that a location about 1 and 1/2 hours away should have one on Monday. I ask who will pay the expense to pick up the truck. I am told that is my problem. Tomarrow, being Saturday, i had help hired for the move. I am disabled and unable to much of it myself. Now Monday presents a new problem, these people have jobs to go to. All our belongings are boxed up and ready to go. Go where? I don't know. August 1 starts a new month of rent. Just bought a house 35 miles away. Didn't know it would be that hard to get too. They did tell me that if I call Monday I can get $50 for the inconvenience. That would hardly cover my gas to go pickup the uhaul truck about 100 miles away. Just want you to know, if they tell you they are reserving a truck or equiptment for you, just laugh. Somebody more important or with more money may come in later and want to rent it. I don't rate companies very highly who don't back up what they say they will do.
