We stayed at the Ellington Wachesaw East which is a part of the Festiva Resort in Murrells Inlet, and attended the 90 minute sales pitch for timeshare ownership. We did purchase a "Snowbird" special in Feb. and were told that we were now entitled to 1900 bonus points that have to be used by the end of the year or carried over to 2010. Well, now that we called and wanted to use our existing points and the additional "bonus" points, we now were told that we have to pay additional money for these points, that was never mentioned to us. Also, we are obligated to continue paying the maintenence fee for our contract, and have tried to give the timeshare back to the company, and were basically laughed at. We now realize that we were ripped off big time by this company.
In my opinion, the sales pitch was a huge misrepresentation from the actual contract from the get go. We feel that we were pressured to sign a contract to consistently feed Festiva money in order to utilize options that we felt were included. We now know that we could have booked our vacation with any resort other than "Festiva owned" for a substantially lower cost.
I am writing this complaint in hopes that others will not be duped into the same situation. My advice is Buyer beware, as something that sounds too good to be true, probably is.
