Nationwide Marketing Solutions
Complete ripoff!

I bought a timeshare in 2004 (actually I was pressured into buying it but that's another complaint!) I have been trying to get rid of it ever since. I received a call from Nationwide Marketing Solutions, the caller ID read Maureen Hagopian (561) 385-2490 on 10/15/09 around 1pm. She asked if I was still interested in selling my timeshare. I said yes and she launched into the sale, telling me that there was a family that was interested in my timeshare, they put money down, and that Nationwide Marketing Solutions would handle everything. The family offered $12,600 and wanted to buy my 3 weeks that were banked at $1500/week ($4500) so the total I would be getting was $17,100. Nationwide Marketing Solutions had been marketing my timeshare for free and they were going to set up everything in an escrow account but in order to do that they'd need 10% of the sale (by my calculations that would be $1710) but she said $1792.
When I asked her about the difference, she rattled off a bunch of fees and stuff and went on with her sales pitch. At this point red flags were going up all over. She said that she'd FedEx the contract out to me, they'd set everything up and that it would take 90 days to process the sale, she just needed a credit card. She gave me the customer service number (561) 432-6200 (which is NEVER answered and the mail box is ALWAYS full). I read back the number off the caller ID and asked her if I could reach her there too and she said sure. I had to ask her repeatedly to tell me the name of the company and to slow down so I could get all the info. I mentioned that I had been scammed before. She said that she understood my skepticism and they could get my money back from the other companies. She told me to call her when the contract arrived at my home so she could go over it with me. Stupidly I gave her my credit card number. She called me back a few minutes after I gave her the number asking me to call my bank and ok the transaction, at that point I should have backed out but I didn't. The total charge to my card was NOT $1792 but $1827.84, there was a $35.84 foreign fee applied!!! The last time I checked Florida was NOT a foreign country! I got the paperwork in the mail and called her, like she told me to, to go over it with her, but it took me 2 days to finally reach someone. One day I reached someone and asked for this Maureen person, they said no one by that name worked there! I left multiple messages and by mistake someone from that company called me looking for someone else (using the same number as before but it was a guy calling), when I asked if they were with Nationwide Marketing Solutions and if I could ask them about my contract he hung up on me! I called him right back, he answered and I told him I was a customer of theirs and I wanted to speak to Maureen, he transferred me to her, she apologized and we went over the contract. She gave me a customer number-TC3355, and when I questioned her about being able to trust that there was a family going to buy my timeshare she gave me a conformation number that supposedly means that there really is someone that is buying my timeshare-CH0853P. She said that once they received the contract I'd get a phone call saying that they had gotten everything and that after 14 days I'd be hearing from FedEx 24 hours before they were to deliver my check so we could set up a time for them to deliver it that I'd be home so I could show them my ID. I have gotten no phone call, no notification of anything. When I try and call there is no answer to her line and the customer service line is never answered and the mailbox is always full. I decided to post my experience with this and other companies so others don't get ripped off. Good luck!!
