British Airways charges high Fuel Surcharges on their Frequent Flyer free tickets. So much so that the tickets, in the end, seem only discounted. As of today it is about $110 EACH WAY on flights to London (Total $353 for FREE ticket in fees etc). American airlines, on the other hand, has no Fuel Surcharge on their frequent flyer tickets, costs only $132 in fees, and 10,000 fewer miles than BA. So my advise is to skip BA because any miles you earn turn out costing you much later. Check all frequent flyer programs for hidden fees before becoming beholden to any 1.
