Contacted by phone in January, with slick sales talk and promises too good to be true and was told I could get my refund within 30 days if I were not satisfied. Received packet and not at all what I expected. Contacted the company for a refund. Told to mail materials back and I would get a refund to my account. Did send the materials return receipt. No word from them. Called numerous times with various promises of a refund to my account within time frames that passed: 30 days, 10-14 business days, et cetera. Last call on 6/23/09 and told by Scott that it would be 10-14 business days.
The above fits the patterns for other complaints about Cheaptrips in other states, also. I am filing a complaint with the FTC and with the Federal Bureau of Consumer Protection, Federal Trade Commission (www.FTC. Gov), the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs at ocpcom@dca. Lps. State. Nj.Us
and possibly the US Postal Inspector. A class action law suit would be good if enough people could come together to do this.
I really feel sorry for all the unsuspecting people that can get taken advantage of by this, especially those who have worked hard for their money and have a few dollars to make a couple of trips of a lifetime and get taken advantage of.
