Cheaptrips
Ripoff

To whom it may concern:

I'm trying to contact someone in your consumer protection section to file a complaint against cheaptrips.com... I have been in contact with a Mrs. Latonya at the corporate offices for billing refund, as of January 31 i was promised by Mrs. Latonya that a check was cut and was in the mail and that i should give it 7 days to arrive at my home address. This morning i contacted her office once more to be told by Scott that they are having problems and that no checks have been mailed out. The ongoing lies must cease. I do not understand why the state of NJ always for such business to practice under deceit. I would sincerely appreciate all your advice in this matter. It is the principal behind their fraudulent practice that infuriates customers. I have found a website that has over 1000 complaints and am seriously concerned as to why this company is allowed to stay in business. Please review the attached letter for further explanation:

To Whom It May Concern:
I'm writing you today to address the issues for my complaint for the Cheap trips charge on April 6th. On August 19th I sent them a letter, attached herein. Which outlined my complaint. I will re-summarize that letter to you so that you understand my frustration.

On April 6th I contacted cheap trips to become a lifetime member, they notified me that they wouldn't charge my credit card until the membership packet was sent out. After their failure to send me the promised material for my purchase of the lifetime membership I called in complaining and a representative apologized for the mishap and promised to send out a companion ticket voucher as well as a survey. Just as in the beginning of my membership no materials were sent out and I've placed a call every month (May 10, June 14, July 8 and August 9) checking on the status of the promised material. I was told each time that it would be sent out again and should arrive within 7-10business days. The continued dishonesty lead me to request a full refund.

On August 9th I called in and I was reassured by a gentlemen by the name of Theo at the customer care number (1800-211-5119) ext 1176 that my card would be refunded on August 9. I again had to call in because no refund appeared and spoke with a supervisor by the name of Suzette at the same customer number ext. 1180. Again, no transaction has appeared.in all my calls I was promised a follow up email and or phone call and neither promises were met. On August 19th I called corporate and spoke with Sealy. I was instructed to provide a letter indicating the mishap for documentation to process the refund.
Sincerely,

August 19

Dear Cheaptrips,
This letter is a formal complaint that you are not meeting your end of the membership offer.

I am very distressed that you have yet to refund my MasterCard ending in X0893 for the purchase price of the lifetime membership fee. After your failure to send me the promised material for my purchase of the lifetime membership I called in complaining and a representative apologized for the mishap and promised to send out a companion ticket voucher as well as a survey. Just as in the beginning of my membership no materials were sent out and I've placed a call every month checking on the status of the promised material. I was told each time that it would be sent out again and should arrive within 7-10business days. This is absolutely unacceptable practice for any business to conduct and I therefore requested a full refund. I was reassured by a gentlemen by the name of Theo at the customer care number (1800-211-5119) ext 1176 that my card would be refunded on August 9. I again had to call in because no refund appeared and spoke with a supervisor by the name of Suzette at the same customer number ext. 1180 on August 15. Again, no transaction has appeared.in all my calls I was promised a follow up email and or phone call and neither promise were met. This morning I called corporate and spoke with Sealy. I was instructed to provide a letter indicating the mishap for documentation and your records to be updated for the overdue refund. It's truly a shame that a customer has to keep calling in each month in order to obtain what rightfully belongs to them. I've waited several months prior to disputing the charge and you promise each time to resolve this matter with a refund. I ask for proof of the refund and again you promise a letter in the mail. This will be my final attempt before I call my credit card company and dispute the charge.

If the promised refund does not appear on my credit card I will contact the Business Bureau and my credit card concerning this matter.
