Complaint / Review
Sunset Group, VIP-travel-club, RCI International
This is not a timeshare membership! Beware of this "Company". Do not sign anything... Please learn from us! Cacun

We were offered an inexpensive vacation package to Cancun, Mexico in August. Little did we know that these packages are actually available for free upon agreement to take a "timeshare tour" for approximately 90 minutes of our time. We paid $500 to stay at the Ocean Resort in Cancun, Mexico with the acknowlegment of this agreement.

The timeshare packages in the first couple of hours started at 20,000 to 50,000 usd, but after 5 hours of being in the hotel, served many drinks, and exhausted, our package was widdled down to a mere 5,000 usd. We finally agreed. Signed papers and celebrated with Marcus over a bottle of champagne. I would later label him as one of the biggest ass-holes and scam artists that I have ever met.

After much grief and tears over our poorly made decision, we made our way back to the Sunset Resort that next morning. Of course, this alleged company does not like the look of two angry, emotional, and distressed people in their lobby and assured us that "the board" would hear our complaints that next day. So we complacently agreed to leave their hotel, as to not negatively affect their sales enviroment, and come back that next day to talk to "the board".

Now, you have to understand that they told us that we had signed a waiver of our right to refuse payment, and at the time we were trying to be as nice as possible because we had just signed a credit authorization for 5,000 usd to this company. However, a this kind of waiver is illegal in Mexico.

When we arrived that next day, after sitting in the hotel lobby for approximately 12 to 18 hours, we were introduced to "the board", who was a man who had been in the office from the time that we signed the initial papers to the time that we signed our second contract. This contract did not include the "free trips" or the membership to the "yacht club", which upon further investigation does not exist anyways. However, it was 2,500 usd cheaper.

We have tried to make travel arrangements through this company, but have been unsuccesful, only able to book hotels/resorts for higher amounts in countries that we do not want to travel. We are assuming that it is nearly impossible for a reimburesment of our money, however I would like to think that I could save someone from time, money, and pain through the bad decision that I made.

Do not buy a timeshare from this Group or any of its affiliates. Please.

If anyone is involved in a class action lawsuit against this company, I will gladly participate.
