Sunset Resorts - Sunset Lagoon
Sunset Resorts-Sunset Lagoon Mexico Cancun Mexico #1 SCAM ARTISTS, Q. Roo

Our family went to Cancun for Spring Break in April. It was our teenage boys first time and our second time to Cancun. We decided to take the bus to the small Maya ruin in the hotel zone. Our first mistake was getting off the bus too soon.

Our second mistake was asking for directions. Two guys in a little office building talked us into getting a free Jungle Tour boat ride with snorkeling for all 4 of us. All we had to do was listen to a 90 minute presentation, breakfast included. They tried to make us pay a $100 deposit, returning it to us when we are picked up at our hotel the next morning. We convinced them we will be there.

We went to the presentation all set to say NO. We were wined and dined, and given a yacht ride to the other hotel. 2.5 hrs later, we finally sat down at the small table and were given the costs of the units. We were firm in our NO. We thought we were finally released to go, when they took us to another room with a small table.

The higher managers worked on us, now. We were all set to go, when they offered a trial timeshare (5yrs) plus a free cruise, and 2 free 2-bedroom weeks to be used only at Sunset resorts in Cancun. They even offered to buy our current timeshare with another resort (which we love). We were hooked. We bought the trial timeshare for $1600 with the free cruise. We did not sell our other timeshare.

Then came all the legal papers. Adriana Segeto was our legal person.in the papers, we sign a document, stating that we cannot cancel this. The red flags should have popped up, but they have a way of speeding us thru it.

After thinking about it for a couple of days, we decided that we do not want this timeshare. Within 5 business days, we went back to Sunset to speak to Adriana Segeto. After waiting for an hour, she showed up. She told us that we cannot cancel. The free cruise is worth more than the $1600. We got a good deal. Ok, we said.

When we got home, we really looked at our package. The 2 free weeks are not free. Because the Cancun resorts are only all-inclusive, we have to pay $75 per day per person for up to 8 people. That is $525 per person per week. Over $2000 for our family of 4. Ok, we thought. Well, at least we have the free cruise.

Now time to book our free cruise. We picked the time and whether we wanted Eastern or Western Carribean. They emailed us back with our costs! We checked on-line with the cruise line and saw that our Free Cruise is only $200 cheaper than booking directed with the cruise line. We emailed Adriana and asked where is this $2000 free cruise. She emailed back saying that the port fees and taxes are our responsibility.

We decided to not waste anymore money. We did not book a cruise. We have not used our 2 weeks. We emailed Adriana that we want to cancel, but have not had a response. WE WERE SCAMMED $1600 plus $69 annual VIP fees for 5 yrs.
