Universal Vacation Club
We went to Puerta Nueva for vacation this December and while there attended a sales presentation for Villa del Palmar Flamingos. We told the sales rep we already had 2 time shares and were on fixed income and could not afford to buy another timeshare.
The sales person told us that we could exchange our Marriott time share for the new one and come away with an additional 19,000 dollars as the Marriott was worth more. As we had done a direct exchange to get our time share in Cabo we thought this was the same process. The sales person got on the phone with the person who would handle the sale and said that we had to sign papers for him and the money would be used for this sale. I told the sales person I would not be back in the USA to receive the paper work until Jan 6th. He said that would not be a problem.
He also stated that the first years maintenance fee was included in the price of the time share.
Once home, I found that the company would not be doing an exchange of ownership, that the time share was not the value that the sales person stated, that the first year maintenance fee was not covered in the initial sale.
We were also told that all of this was under Calif laws and we had the protection of California State laws.
Well all the information we were given was false. Added to this we can not get anyone we can talk to or work with in Mexico relating to this. Everyone at UVC kept repeating I have no right to cancel.
I also will be contacting the US consulate in Mexico to look into both Universal Vacation Club and Villa del Palmar Flamingos
