I purchased a holiday over the phone in December. After speaking with a representative from Coral Beach Tours I accepted the holiday on offer and gave my credit card details. This was a phone call from Florida to Australia. All the voices were accented and sounded American. I was given 18 months in which to take the holiday and my documents were forwarded to me by Fedex.
About 2 months ago, in June I saw a TV show in Australia called A Current Affair, and a women described my holiday and how she had been ripped off by this company. I was numb and thought I have done my money which I paid from my credit card which amounted to $837 Australian. I immediately contacted the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission and completed an online form. They were quick with a response and asked me to contact my bank which I did. They replied by letter after a week and said that too much time had lapsed from the time I paid for the holiday, which was Dec 07 to about June 08 and advised that they could not help me to get my money back.
I again contacted the ACCC and they advised that I try to contact the Federal Trade Commission in the US. I was about to fill out their on-line form but I came accross this site and have decided to file this report.
I noticed that I am not the only one who has been ripped off by this company, calling themselves Coral Beach Travel and Tours. I would love to get my money back, as I can't afford to lose that amount of money.
Thank you for the opportunity to be able to tell my story. Let this also be a lesson to others who agree to purchase a holiday over the phone.
